THE IMPACT
Tanaire
In the past year, the San Antonio Housing Authority's ConnectHome program has connected Public Housing residents with digital literacy training, devices and broadband access. For Tanaire, it even helped her land a tech job.
Marvin
Before ConnectHome was launched in San Antonio, Marvin L. advocated for digital literacy training. When SAHA was selected to pilot ConnectHome, Marvin was selected as one of the first seven digital ambassadors.
“The technology and training is essential for our children, no matter the grade, I have, and do, recommend ConnectHome to any and every one will hear.”
Valerie
Valerie is a single mom of three children who saw the opportunity of ConnectHome and completed the program. She now serves as a digital ambassador training other residents and enhancing her technology knowledge.
“ConnectHome is so beneficial because everything is done online — everything requires the Internet.”
Danika
For Danika, a free computer and Wi-Fi will expand opportunities at home — and bring her a step closer to becoming a software engineer.
Shardel
Shardel was 18 years old when he completed ConnectHome. Through the program, he earned a refurbished laptop and hotspot, which he used to complete college applications and apply online for jobs. He is now a student at Alamo Colleges pursuing a career in music production.
“After I completed the program, I felt like I knew more about computers than what I used to know.”
Charles Andrews Apartments
Charles Andrews is now connected! The community is SAHA's first family site equipped with free access to Wi-Fi in 52 public housing units, where approximately 195 residents reside.
